Definite diagnosis by a Consultant Neurologist of a degenerative organic brain disease (including Alzheimer's disease, pre-senile dementia and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) evidenced by progressive loss of ability to remember, reason, perceive, understand, express and give effect to ideas beyond that associated with the normal effects of ageing. Neurosis and psychological illnesses are specifically excluded.
